This week our truck got fixed and so we will have some new photos to show you. Some of the photos will be in Sunday’s Father’s Day post and others will be in a special photo shoot will be posting on Monday. We also will be doing our first Photo Story (PS) next month.
I saw on American Girl Doll News that there is a new hair color going to be available for the Truly Me line from AG. She also was talking about summer releases with an AG cashier and was told most of the releases will be furniture and accessories.
American Girl Ideas has 2 new crafts this week they are cupcakes and a razor for your dolls. I am excited about the razor the most and it goes along with a previous craft she done for Pads and Tampons that I am going to craft for KayKay because she will soon be starting that stage of life and we bought her a practice razor a few months back.
We went out yesterday to McDonald’s and ate lunch and bought a few things we did get one new item for our dolls. At Wal-Mart we got a My Life accessories item and it is a Tablet and Smart Watch. Here is a picture of them and also pictures of us at McDonald’s. Also I ment to tell you some of the My Life As dolls are on sell right now at Wal-Mart for $14.97 instead of regular price of $$27.97 and a few of the play set accessories are on sell to for $5.97 instead of regular price of $7.97.
I got this info from https://dollsbetweenus.wordpress.com/
Fortune magazine had an article today about Mattel’s plans to turn things around across their brands, including American Girl. Key points:
- Turnaround plans focus on emerging markets, faster pace of toy development (oh no!) and the digital play experience
- In the past year, Mattel stock has fallen 28% while Hasbro’s shares have risen 29%
- CEO says American Girl has been poorly managed (you knew someone had to take the fall for the perma panties…)
- Revitalization of American Girl will take longer than expected
- Need to speed up new product development time from 18 mo to 6 mo
None of these points speak to American Girl’s original beloved concept of your doll being special friend for life, crafted with care yet able to be played with and loved. Their plans sound more like ‘this Barbie doll’s leg will fall off in 4 months, but no worries — pick another one up wherever you shop.’
